This is the sailmakers secret, in some cases this tape even does away with sewing the sails altogether !!!
We use it in our workshop for sticking down canvas panels on canopies, sticking bow pockets down before sewing and for sealing anything above your head that is sewn to prevent leaking and even for sticking zips down before sewing.
Sail basting tape as it is known is clear and made with latex as the main tape and coated on both sides with an extra sticky adhesive that actually gets stronger over time. Approx 50m on a roll.
Cheap double sided tapes are made with paper as the main tape which is no good in a marine environment.
Available in sizes 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 19mm, 25mm and 50mm.
Polyester film is coated on both sides with an ultra high peel acrylic adhesive which is designed to adhere immediately to most types of sail cloth and canvas. It is virtually non yellowing and resists most strains of mildew.
